Change now to energy efficient products
Within the framework of EU Directive 2005/32/EC, the EU set forth requirements for environmentally friendly design (eco-design) of energy-using products (EUP). In November 2009, this directive was superceded by updated Directive 2009/125/EC (ErP), but without affecting executive orders (Domestic and Professional Lighting).
The framework Directive is completed by what are known as implementing measures, which define requirements in the form of regulations for various product groups. So far there are two implementing measures (no. 244/2009 for Domestic Lighting, part 1 and no. 245/2009 for Professional Lighting) in the lighting sector.
